Vietnamese lacquer painting method is a little different from Japanese one. Both has sanding process. but Japanese sanding process is to obtain smooth surface only while Vietnamese's is to produce more dramatical effects such as underlining layers back to the surface by complex layers of lacquer with different colours and textures, using a variety of materials such as pigment, gold, silver, egg shell, river shell, and so on. Anybody can learn these method from the first step to advanced technique. UZU is the only class in Vietnam where you can learn natural Vietnamese lacquer paintings.
